Legazpi City host Miss Earth Long Gown Competition

This Miss Earth Long Gown competition is a luminous sign of this city as the best haven for conventions and beauty pageant competition. This is the optimism expressed by Mayor Carmen Geraldine B. Rosal as she welcomed the 26 Miss Earth Candidates during the breakfast visit on November 16 at the Office of the City Chief Executive.

The superb lady executive blithely thanked the organizer and other sponsors for choosing Legazpi City for the 3rd time as the main host of this competition and for bringing these 26 gorgeous Miss Earth candidates in this city. She said that her administration will continue to invite the national and international organizations to use this city as the venue of their activities.

Majority of the candidates believed during the press conference at Alvi’s Cafe that strong political will, proper implementation of the solid waste management program and the strong people’s participation for a massive tree planting activities to every community will be the best fire wall against the ill effect of climate change.

Dominican Republic Miss Earth candidate Alba Marina Aquino Marte said that protecting the environment should start from the household by way of proper disposal of garbage, it is also very important for us to stop the cutting of trees particularly at the upland areas of the communities, she added.

On the other hand, Fiji candidate Ms. Esther Cheyanne Foss stressed that she will ask the leaders of her country to take a necessary action for more tree planting activities and energy conservation measures.

At the Miss Earth Preliminary Resort wear and Long Gown competition held at the La Piazza convention hall in this city on Friday night November 16, a candidate from Germany won the event while Zoe Kinsella of Wales was a 2nd placer followed by Waratthaya Wongchayaporn of Thailand bagged as 3rd place.
